Lillie Mae Highsmith-Edmonds, affectionately known as “Penny,” was born on August 11, 1934, in Greenville, North Carolina, to the late John Highsmith and Christine Bryant. Penny was a loving and devoted woman whose life was centered around family and the special relationships she shared with those closest to her. Throughout her life, she carried herself with strength, grace, and a caring spirit. Her presence brought warmth to her family, and the love and wisdom she shared will remain a treasured part of her legacy. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel Edmonds; her parents, John Highsmith and Christine Bryant; and her sisters, Catherine Highsmith, AnnaBelle Highsmith, and Ida Lou Bryant. 

She leaves to cherish her precious memories to her loving sons, Samuel Edmonds III (Traci) and Martin Roy Edmonds (Andrica); daughter, Renee C. Woulard (Paul L. Woulard III); along with 12 grandchildren and their loving relatives and dear friends. Penny’s long and beautiful life was a blessing to those who knew and loved her. Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, the memories created throughout her journey will continue to bring comfort, smiles, and gratitude to her family. Her legacy of love will live on through her children and all whose lives she touched. May the life and memory of Lillie Mae “Penny” Highsmith-Edmonds forever be cherished and lovingly remembered.
