Loette
Cupid
January 26, 1933 – September 18, 2025
Our ever-beautiful Loette Olive Cupid peacefully transitioned into the Kingdom of Heaven on September 18, 2025. A radiant pillar of love, wisdom, and unwavering strength - she touched her family, friends, and community with a generosity that knew no limits. With open arms and a heart of gold, she was always the first to help, never expecting anything in return. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, to Bert and Adele Lewis, she was the last surviving sister among four beautiful daughters — Rosa Wagoner, Teresa Holland, and Wesley Anne Lewis. Together, they built a legacy of faith, strength, and grace that will continue to live on through generations. A woman of ambition and perseverance, she was as athletic as she was beautiful. Loette played in several high-ranking softball leagues throughout her youth. She later graduated from Fordham University, where she obtained her master's degree. Her professional journey started in nursing. After moving to New York City, she became a District Manager for an off-track betting company. She later followed her entrepreneurial spirit and founded "WesLoe Travel", a travel agency connecting others to the world she loved to explore. While in the city, she served as President of the NAACP Manhattan branch, hosting fashion and talent shows that gave many artists the opportunity to shine.
In 1985, she and her husband Harold Norman Cox relocated to Tampa, Florida, where she earned her real estate license and taught elementary school students with compassion and care. After becoming a widow in February 2001, she later remarried Victor Cupid in 2005 and devoted her life to God through St. Peter Claver Catholic Church parish, serving faithfully as Sacristan, choir member, and Grand Lady of Knights of St. Peter Claver Lady Auxiliary. Throughout her life, Loette accomplished so much, yet she always led with love. She welcomed everyone as family, whether by blood or by bond and made sure each person felt seen, valued, and loved. Her light, her laughter, and her spirit will never fade. She was, and will always remain, a beautiful soul who broke barriers, touched hearts, and lived her life to the fullest.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Victor Cupid; her loving son, Robert Long; two cherished grandchildren, Lorna N. Magnus and Robert C. Long; two beautiful great-grandchildren, Ethan Long and Alexis Magnus. She also leaves a legacy of love with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
