A Memorial Celebration for Mr. Louis A. Burgess of Tampa, Florida whose spirit ascended into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, August 29, 2015, will be held on Tuesday, September 8th, 6:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Rev. Michael Neely, officiating. Louis was a retired longshoreman. In his younger years he was a prize winning boxer. His favorite pastimes were fishing and eating at Waffle House and socializing amongst friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Ophelia Burgess, 2 sons, Little Louis and Roosevelt Carwell and 1 daughter, Abby Sanders. He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife of 54 years, Eula Burgess; son, Louis Burgess; 1 grandson; 6 great grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; his dear special friend, Kathy Hammontree; loving caretakers, Charles Warren and Ike Thomas; special son, Snoopy; and all of his Waffle House friends. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel for his service on Tuesday evening.
