A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Lucy Futch of Tampa, Florida who passed away on will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2021, will be held Tuesday, May 18th, at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Bessie Mohead officiating. The interment will be held in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Futch was a native Floridian, residing in Tampa for 98 years. She attended public schools of Hillsborough County, graduating from Middleton High School, Tampa, Florida, and further her education at Bethune Cookman College. She had the honor of being President of Delta Theta Sorority, subsequently, she was crowned Ms. Bethune Cookman. After graduation she taught school in Hillsborough County where she retired in 1981, then decided to go back to work at two (2) daycare facilities. She worked at St. Matthew church daycare and New Friendship Baptist Church daycare where she used her expertise as a classroom director. She as a loyal member of Hood Temple A.M.E., using her voice to sing the Lord's praises also, holding positions as a Deaconess, Steward Emeritus, former President of Tampa District Missionary Society, and former President of W.H.O mission. Lucy Futch married Fellton D. Futch in 1941, from their union they became proud parents of two (2) sons and raised them in reverence to God. Lucy Futch was proceeded in death by her husband of 68 years Fellton D. Futch, her parents, Owen and Corrine Alexander, Brother Charles Alexander and Sister Frederica Clark. She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her sons, Felton D. Futch Jr. and Ronald Futch; granddaughter, Charese Lee (Reginald); grandson, Edward Wilson; great-granddaughter, Zaria Wilson; nieces, Fredericka Alexander, Renee' Alexander Johnson (Darryl), Corrine Thomas, Araminta Alexander and Alexis Thomas; nephews, Reverend Darin Mitchell (Lynn), Kevin Alexander and Irvin Thomas Jr.; a host of family and friends. Repass at Hood Temple A.M.E. Fellowship Hall, 2601 E. 29th Ave., Tampa, FL, 33605. The family would like to thank family and friends that supported her during her last difficult years. You will always be in our hearts and prayers.

The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Monday, May 17th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Tuesdayfor the service. We are following the CDC guidelines.
