Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd., with Rev. Kirk R. Bogen, pastor of St. James AME Church, Ft. Meade, FL, officiating. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Lula Johnson (affectionately known as "Mama Lula") was born on June 18, 1909, in Gainesville, FL, to the late Lewis and Louise Mitchell Singleton. Her parents owned their farm and had hired-hands. Her mother owned a boarding home in Tampa near the train station where she also worked. So inevitably Mama Lula ventured into self-employment. She owned a sundry shop for a few years on Nebraska Ave. She loved fishing and sitting on her front porch speaking to all that passed by. Even would be strangers called her "Mama." She was a member of Greater Mt. Moriah P. B. Church. On Tuesday, March 17, 2009, she was called home to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her daughter; Helen Simmons and two sons; Glen "Daddy Cool" Pressley and James "Bro" Pressley; a grandson, Renwick Pressley; and her siblings: Thomasina Davis, Sarah Morrow, Georgiana Smith, Selena Roundtree, Louisa Singleton, and Anne Singleton. She leaves to cherish fond memories of her: one son, Eddie Lee Pressley (Minnie); 18 grandchildren, Brenda Holley (Arthur), Delores Wingfield, Glennette Paris, Merritt Simmons, Jr., Helen Marie Simmons, Cyrum Thomas, Torey Thomas, Colen Thomas, Jr., Linda Reddick, James Pressley, Jr., Lawanna Pressley-James, Ondria Bryant (John), Anthony Pressley, Rev.
