Obituary

Mable Jean Clayton was born on June 22, 1953, in Friars Point, Mississippi, to Willie and Albertine Parker. Mable was baptized at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida, under the leadership of Reverend John Willis. She later continued her Christian journey at Peace Progressive Community Church under the leadership of Pastor Timothy J. Kemp. Mable loved God, she served as a mother on the mother's board, and also the founder and leader of the Little Lambs Youth Choir. She had a strong personal relationship with her father.

As a child, Mable was very playful, kind, fun-loving, and a social butterfly. Her early years were spent in Tampa, Florida, with family and neighborhood friends. She was a talented, high- stepping bells player in the band. After graduating from Middleton Senior High School, she achieved her typing certificate. She was an active school reading tutor for Senior Services with Hillsborough County Schools for over six years. She loved reading, fishing, cooking, and dancing. Spending time with family always  brought her so much joy. She was a ray of sunshine and a good time. No matter what room she entered, she was always ready to joke and laugh. She was a fashionista; she had to have a hat with any and everything that she wore. She earned the name "HAT LADY" from the members of her church. Mable went on to marry twice, Sol Murphy (Deceased), and remarried to Byron Clayton  Sr. She had five beautiful children whom she adored. Mable was a wonderful mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend.

Mable Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Parker and Albertine, her loving stepfather Ephram Austin, her older sister Lisa Sirmons, two brothers, Willie H. Parker and Jesse Parker; nephew, Alvin Sirmons, and grandson, Dion Sutton, Sr.

She leaves behind two sisters, Albertine Parker and Christine Austin, as well as five children, Calvin Murphy, Carla Murphy, Katesha Washington, Kimberly Clayton and Byron Clayton, Jr. (Ashley); nieces, Renee Graham (Billy), Kisha Perry (Charles), Roxanna Parker, Cinnamon Philips, Ambrosia Austin, Marcia Brown, Tisha Roberts; nephews, Atif Austin (Tori), Jihad Franklin (Phaedra), Deleon Parker, Hondo Philips; Detroit cousins, Mildred Kyser (Fred), John Henry Thomas, and Marilyn Rogers.
