Homegoing services for Mrs. Mamie Reed Richards of Tampa, Florida who departed on Sunday, November 3, 2013, will be held on Saturday, November 9th, 2:00 p.m., at Cathedral of Faith Church, Inc., 6304 N. 30th Street, Apostle James H. Howell, Sr. pastor with Rev. Zachery Hudson, pastor of Rebirth Missionary Baptist Church, eulogist and officiate. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mamie Reed Richards was born August 27, 1944 in Thomas County, Georgia. She had been a resident of Hillsborough County for over 40 years. She graduated from Middleton High School. She was employed with Hillsborough County School System. Mamie enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a faithful member of Rebirth M.B. Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Reed, Sr. and Marie Reed; husband, Ernest Richards, Sr., and sisters, Idella Bowan, Elizabeth Green and Margaret Belcher and grandson, Derrick Frazier. She leaves to cherish her precious memories 8 sons, Ernest Richards, Jr. (Cheryl), Harold Richards (Evelyn), Charles Richards (LaShon), Wallace Washington, Alonzo Richards (Berthena), Juan Washington (Jameliah), Cedric Washington (Dana) and Antinorris Richards (Ebony); 5 daughters, Alveda Dawkins (Willie), Carla Richards, Sharon (Nikki) Houston, Javonda Smith and Dorothy Williams (Johnny); 2 brothers, James Reed, Sr. (State Rep. Betty) and Eddie Reed; 2 sisters, Annie Mae Thomas and Christine Reed (Andrew); uncle, Ellis Fann (Bessie); aunt, Jen Fann; sister-in-law, Geraldine Richards; grandchildren, Ernest Richards III, Brandi Brown (Marquis), April Richards, Victoria Young, Xavier Coney, Vashon, Juan, Jr., J'Nai, Cedric, Jr. and Tyric Washington, Delshun Wilburn, Angelica Norton, Michael Mosley, D'Nae and Ashley Shipp, Sheontra, Charles, Jr., and Shaquita Richards, Willie and Marshanna Larry, Sable, Constance, and Mercedes Richards, Chelsea Barnum, Jeremiah Walters, Henry Hicks, Anthony Pleax, Tiffany Rivers, and Justine Smith; goddaughter, Whitney Render; 24 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; special nieces, Debbie and Geraldine (Junie) Richards, Joycelyn (Shay-Shay) and Tommy Hill and Stephanie (Net) and Michael Crimley; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; special friends, Judy Jones, Severia (Cookie) Render, Willie Maude Reese, Clevetta McHenry, Cheryl Young, Roger and Doretha Johnson, Pricilla Watson, Sharon Black, Anna Williams, Katie Oliver and Samuel Hemmingway. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday evening. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church at 1:45 p.m. for the service. The final viewing will take place before the service begins.
