Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Margaret Sumes of Tampa who passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015, will be held on Saturday, January 31st, 2:00 p.m. at The Rock Church of God by Faith, 4323 E. Henry Ave., Pastor James E. Williams with Rev. Anita Williams, pastor of Holsey Temple CME Church, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Margaret Sumes was born September 30, 1928 in Monticello, Florida to the late Samuel and Emma Lee (Morrell) Drew, Sr. She later moved to Tampa, Florida where she resided for many years. She was a graduate of Middleton High School. Mrs. Sumes was a woman of faith who was loving, caring and she lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed being a foster mother to many children for over 25 years. Mrs. Sumes enjoyed participating as a member of Loas Amegas Women's Club and she was also a longtime member of Holsey Temple CME Church. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Sumes, Sr., sister, Vilma Drew and brothers, Pearl and Samuel Drew, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories: 5 children, Bernard Sumes, Sr., Tosky Sumes, Marcus Sumes, Diamond Sumes and fiancAC., Marcus and Nadia Sumes and fiancAC., Waleed; 10 grandchildren, Bernard Sumes, Jr., and wife, Latasha, Tammy Sumes Jones and husband, Elrod, Yancey Sumes, Lenard Sumes, Dynasha Ward, Zynaria Sumes, Sy'Nia Sumes, Maloni Milton, Ethan Smith and Toskiana Sumes; 4 great grandchildren, Darius Warren, Calvin Harris, James Johnson, Jr., and Jarod L. Jones; 2 sisters, Mildred Marshall and Ruth Johnson; 1 brother, Bobby Drew and wife, Jean; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and devoted friends. The visitation will be held at Holsey Temple CME Church, 3729 N. 15th Street, from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church. The family and friends are asked to meet at The Rock Church of God by Faith on Saturday for the service.
