Homegoing services for Mrs. Margaret Lucille Tim of 2304 Ridgewood Avenue, who slept away peacefully early in the morning on Friday, October 2, 2009, will be held Friday, October 9th, 1:00 p.m., Victory Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 2716 N. 34th Street, Rev. Eugene Sanders, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Margaret Lucille Stewart Randolph Tim was born, the third of four daughters, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Archie (Effie) Stewart in Kingsland/St. Marys, Georgia on March 22, 1917. Upon the sudden death of her mother, at age six, Mrs. Tim was raised by her late uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Weldon (Ruby Lee) Randolph, who were her godparents. She attended grade school in Camden County, and then matriculated at the Fort Valley School for Girls for high school. She received Christ at an early age and moved to Tampa, Florida in April of 1939 and planted her roots. She joined the Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Reverend Jacob W. Rhodes, where all of her children were baptized. In the late 1970's, she and other like-minded Christians began to lay the foundation for Victory Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church with the late Reverend John L. Overstreet as pastor. She served faithfully in many capacities over the years, including: Church Treasurer, singing in the Cathedral Choir, instructor of Sewing and Arts & Crafts, the founding chairperson of the Food Pantry, and finally, she was one of the wise Elders of Victory, until her health began to fail. She was joined in holy matrimony to the late, Mr. Herman Tim in 1949. Mrs. Tim was the loving and proud mother of three children, Edward Carris Aikens, Gwendolyn Tim Powell and Herman Leroy Tim. Mrs. Tim was a dedicated daughter, mother, sister, and community activist. She was actively involved in her children's education, serving on the local and statewide PTA; she was at one time the secretary of the local chapter of NAACP. She was a lady wearing many hats, the "Avon Lady", the "Insurance Lady", a foster grandmother, a volunteer with Metropolitan Ministries, a seamstress, a friend and confidant to many, both young and old. She first retired from the Central Life Insurance Company as the Assistant District Manager; and finally retired after working for ten years at the University of South Florida as a Clerk II. Mrs. Tim was well known for her bread pudding, oatmeal cookies and chocolate chip cookies, which she delighted in serving. She touched everyone's life that she came in contact with through her strong convictions and giving ways. Fond memories of her will be cherished by 2 sons, Edward C. Aikens and Herman Leroy Tim and stepson, Rodney Tim, all of Tampa; daughter, Gwendolyn Tim Powell of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; grandchildren, Chike' S. Tim and Edward C.
