Margie
Cummings
January 22, 1935 – June 6, 2024
We gather here in heartfelt remembrance of Margie H. Cummings, a beacon of light and love, who was called to her eternal rest on June 6, 2024. Born on the 22nd of January 1935, in the warm embrace of Round O. South Carolina, Margie's journey began as a daughter, blossomed into that of a wife and mother, and flourished as a cherished member of her community. As the Lord's grace shone upon her, Margie's life was a testament to the virtues of love, kindness, and dedication. She walked through life with an unwavering faith and an enduring smile that touched the hearts of all who knew her. Margie's departure from this earthly realm occurred peacefully in Tampa, Florida, where she was surrounded by the love of her family, as she transitioned.
Margie was a graduate of the public schools of Colleton County and proudly received her diploma from State High School in Walterboro, SC. Her commitment to excellence did not cease with her education; it carried through to her professional life. She dedicated many years of service to Jack's Cookie Company, from which she retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and perseverance. In her personal life, Margie's passions were as warm and inviting as her kitchen. She found joy in the art of travel, exploring new places, and creating memories that would last a lifetime. Her culinary skills were unmatched, and her dishes were the centerpiece of many family gatherings. Above all, Margie cherishes the time spent with her beloved family, instilling in them the values of unity and love.
The Cummings family matriarch was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Cummings, Sr.; precious daughter, Gwendolyn "Pee Wee" Cummings; dear mother, Annie C. Short (Murray). Her spirit, however, continues to live on through her loving children, Deborah Frazier and Charles Cummings, Jr. (Celeste), who will forever uphold her legacy of kindness and compassion; grandchildren, who were the apples of her eye, and she imparted wisdom and love upon them that will guard their paths forevermore, Shandria "Nikki" Vines (Damon), Charles Hair, Shannon "Kia" Fraizer-Smith (Lawrence), Kimberly Larry, Ashley Cummings, SSgt. Brian Cummings (USMC); great-grandchildren, who will miss their "GG", and who always had a story to share and a hug to give, Ayana Green, Damon Vines, Jr. "DJ", Adrienne Vines, Lawrence "LL" Smith, Lauryn Anderson, Levi Anderson; beloved uncle, whose bond with Margie was a testament to the strength of family ties, Madison M. Murray, Sr.
Her memory will also be treasured by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, each of whom she touched with her gentle spirit and unwavering support. Today as we reflect upon Margie's well-lived life, let us carry forward the light she has left in our hearts. Though she has moved on to the heavenly choir, her melody of life remains with us, harmonizing with the beauty of the world she left behind. Margie H. Cummings, a virtuous woman, a pillar of strength, and a nurturing soul, has left the confines of this world, but she will forever be etched in the annals of our hearts. As she reunited with loved ones gone before her, we take solace in the fact that her love will continue to guide us, just as the stars guide the ships at sea. Let us not say goodbye, but rather, until we meet again. For in the house of the Lord, there are many mansions, and we trust that Margie has found her place of peace and joy. May her memory be a blessing and may we all aspire to live with the grace and dignity that she embodied every day of her precious life. Rest in peace, dear Margie. Your journey has been a well-traveled road, and the map you've left us is one of immeasurable worth.
