Mariah was born February 18, 2012, in Tallahassee, Florida. She graced this world with her light and was taken from us far too soon. She was the kind of soul who would delicately return a worm to the soil to ensure its survival, or serve you breakfast in bed when you were feeling low. Her heart knew no bounds, embracing all creatures, big and small.

Her laughter was infectious, filled with genuine joy that spread effortlessly. She found delight in simple pleasures like ice cream, the ocean, animals, Taylor Swift, being with her friends, watching YouTube and The Outer Banks but yet also reveled in creative pursuits such as: baking, building with Legos, practicing aerial arts, riding horses, English style, and reading WWII historical fiction. Her home was a gallery of her artistic spirit, adorned with paintings, drawings, and sculptures that reflected her brilliance.

Even from a tender age, Mariah's intellect shone brightly. Her curiosity knew no bounds, and her quick wit often left others in awe. She was funny and loved telling dad jokes. Hiking with her was akin to accompanying a modern-day Steve Irwin, her passion for nature and adventure evident at every turn. Her sense of style was unmatched, a true fashionista with a unique flair. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Landon Julian Matthews.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: parents, Marvin and LaLencia Matthews; a host of aunts and uncles; her TCMS, Riverhills and TKD family; and loving grandparents and friends who became family.
