Obituary

Homegoing services for Mrs. Marie McDonald Thompson of 1524 LaSalle Street, who passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2009, will be held on Saturday, August 8th, 11:00 a.m., Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 4008 C.P. Epps Dr. (Cayuga), Rev. Dr. C.P. Epps, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Thompson was raised in Tampa, educated in Hillsborough County Schools, graduating from Middleton High School, class of 1957. She was a long time member of Mt. Olive M.B. Church and served on the Usher Board #2, Sick and Flower Committee and in the Sunday school. Praising God for His purpose He granted her on this earth, peace and love for everybody, looking for blessed hope. Brother Daniel McDonald (Shine) preceded her in death. She raised her brother's son, her first child, Ralph Berry, daughter, Cheryl Y. Oates and son, Renick Thompson, Jr.; three granddaughters, Brenicca Thompson, Sanayah Thompson and J'Rennica Thompson; sister, Olivia Slaughter; nieces, Tina Walker and husband, Thomas and Shelia Harris; nephews, Michael Slaughter and wife, Kim, Jeffery Slaughter, Gregory Slaughter and Carlton Reid; goddaughter, Angela Wheeler, Latonya Riley and Sonya Grubbs; cousins, Trudy Taylor, Doris Bryant, Ethel, Evelyn, Eloise and Bessie Washington, Algie Rogers, John Washington, Jr., and Sonny; godmother, Letha Jenkins and Elizabeth Bailey; adopted granddaughter, Jazmine Gilchrist; special friends and loved ones, Jim Miller, Jerry Johnson, Sis. Essie M. Coleman, Doretha Smith, Minnie Mitchell, Barbara Johnson, John Marshall and wife, Angela, Minnie Golden and Lori and Marshall, Sis. Ruth M. Vicks, Dea. Jessie and Etha M. German, Dea. Leonard and Pat Walters, Dea. Jack Cottmon, Dea. Andrew and Jackie James, Dea. Julius Robinson and wife; Minnie Williams, Rachel, Margaret McQuay, Rosa Brown, Lucy and Bay Brown, Marie Brown, and the entire Brown family, Lemon family, Doris Boykins, Pauline Hall, Flossie Weeks, Mrs. Netrices, Vergie Fitzpatrick, Dorothy Williams, special goddaughter, Elaine McQuay and her daughter, Shawn, Jeff and Janice, and Priacilla Nash, adopted granddaughter, Patricia Reed; special daughters, Alicia Sumes, Kim Bloomquist, Sandra Smith, Kathy Currington, Linda Walker; Mother Johnson, Mother Rusha Bell Johnson, Mother California Marshall and the mothers in Sunday School, and Rev. C.P. and Mrs. Lillian Epps who she loved; class of 1957, Middleton High School, entire Mt. Olive. M.B. Church family, First Baptist Church of West Tampa, Nellie Brantlett, Ossa Collins, Mr. and Mrs. David Williams; there are many other loved ones that touched her life on earth, especially the Graybar Electric Co., family of Tampa, where she worked for 25 A years; and last but not least Mrs. Netrics, who prayed for her, Abe Brown Food Bank Ministries, Mrs. Marion Williams, Mr. Woody and Mrs. Mary; and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends. The remains will repose at Aikens Funeral Home from 5 to8 p.m. Friday evening. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church for the service.
