A Homegoing celebration for Mr. Marion Covington, Sr. who passed away on Saturday July 23, 2011 will be held Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Olive M.B. Church, 4008 Dr. C. P. Epps Drive, Tampa, with Rev. C.P. Epps, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be held at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa. Mr. Marion Covington, Sr. was born September 9, 1928 to the late Joseph and Hattie Covington in Girard, GA. He was educated in the public Schools of Screven County. He enjoyed fishing. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Lorene Allen on November 23, 1948. Six children were born to this union. The family relocated to Tampa in 1957. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lorene Covington; parents, Joseph and Hattie Covington; brothers, Robert, Charles, Lindberg and Jessie Covington. He leaves to cherish his memories; children, Mary Mouling, Marian Farmer (Daughtry), Patricia Johnson (Bryant), Alonzo Covington (Victoria), Marion Covington, Jr. (Melissa), and Theresa Evans (David); grandchildren, Mario Covington, Sr., Latreal Covington, Ashley Dublin, Allen Covington, Aaron Covington, Alicia Hall, Ashley Hall, Andrea Mitchell, Jontavias Mitchell, and India Bennett; great grandchildren, Marquissa, Markiyah, Marquae, Mario Jr., and Damarien Covington; sister, Laura McGee (Eddie) Chicago, IL; brother, Elijah Covington; sisters-in-law, Anna Covington, Savannah, GA; and Georgia Mae Covington; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The viewing will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011 at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Tampa, from 5-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday for the service.
