Obituary

Ms. Marla Jean Seals West, affectionately known as "Redd," was born on August 23, 1964, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Emanuel Hardin Seals, Sr. and Georgia Lee Kellum. Marla had a vibrant personality and a love for life that shone through in everything she did. She enjoyed crocheting, listening to music, baking, and collecting sunglasses and lipstick. Her sense of humor and warm spirit made her a joy to be around—she had a special gift for making people laugh or smile.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Emanuel Hardin Seals, Jr. and Michael Hardin Seals; father-in-law, Birdell Lawson; and mother-in-law, Barbara Ann Lawson.

She leaves cherished memories to her former husband and best friend, George Thornton West, Sr.; children, George Thornton West, Jr. and Diondra Michelle West; daughter-in-law, Barbara Bernetta West; grandchildren, SaDerrica De'Shaney Tate, Shmeria La'Shay Cotton, and Darrit Lemont Cotton; great-grandson, J'mir Leonte Badon; brothers, Gerald Seals (Qwetsy) and Steven West; sisters, Georgiann Belton (Jerry, Sr.), Janette Parker (Calvin, Sr.), and Nicole Houston (Paul); nieces, Brandi West, Bre'Annah West, Tasha Neeley, Sitia Neeley, Taija Epperson, Dominique Shepard, and Alexia Shepard; and nephews, Calvin Parker, Jr., Marcus Parker, Jerry Belton, Jr., Jermaine Belton, Terrence Neeley, and Marcus McClellan.
