A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Scott Hook of Tampa who passed away Monday, October 2, 2017, will be held Saturday, October 7th 11:00 a.m., at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Rev. Matthew James, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Martha was born March 26, 1935 to the late Freeman Scott and Maureen Cypress in Fayetteville, Tennessee. She was educated in the public school system of Fayetteville, where she excelled in both academics and athletics. Following her graduation from West End High School, she attended and graduated with honors from Tennessee State University obtaining a degree in business. Martha met and fell in love with, the late Julian Hook in 1963; they married on July 20, 1964. This union produced 2 children. His military service career in the United States Air Force allowed her to travel throughout America until the family returned to Tampa. She gained employment in the Hillsborough County School District, where she served for more than 20 years and retired as a clerical professional. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 45 years, Julian; and daughter, Wanda from a previous marriage to Willie Dixon. She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Lisa Bell (Henry); son, Marquis Hook (Xanthene); 4 grandsons, Marquis, Jr., Julian, Jomari and Henry III; 3 sisters-in-law, Darlene, Daphne and Camille; several nephews, nieces; as well as a host of extended family and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, October 6th from 5- 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
