A homegoing celebration for Deaconess Mary L. Chestnut of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 will be held on Saturday, October 6th, 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke AME Church, 2709 N. 25th Street, Tampa, FL 33605, Pastor Kirk Bogan, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park cemetery. Mary was born on October 18, 1923 in Donalsonville, GA to the late Abie andEffie Davis. She was a member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Mary enjoyed fishing, cooking and caring for everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Emory Davis, Watson Davis, Winston Davis, Charlie Davis, John Davis and Lester Davis; sister, Vella Davis-Worlds; son, Lenwood Chestnut and son-in-law, Earl Hobbs; children, Cyrus Chestnut and Hollis Hobbs; grandchildren, Neotacha Clark, Charletha Waiters, Felicia Thompson (Walter), Chedmond Chestnut, Carletha Leggit, Shanan Hobbs and Cyretta Baker (Ted); sisters, Marion Macon and Frankie Dean; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended families. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, October 5th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
