Obituary

Homegoing service for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Mahoney Fugar "Curly" of Brandon, who passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015 will be held on Saturday, May 30th, 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Tabernacle, 10930 Hwy 301, Pastor James Wolfe, officiating. The Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mary was born on September 28, 1955 in Hopewell, Virginia to the late Harrison Johnson and Margaret Mahoney Johnson. Mary graduated from Hopewell High School and was also a graduate of Duke University obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and a degree in Education. She was employed at MetLife Insurance Company for 11 years and Aetna Insurance Company for 17 years. She was currently working at Robles Elementary School as a First grade teacher for the last 4 years. She was a member for 20 years at Calvary Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church, where she sang in the choir and was involved in the Nursing Home Ministry. Mary was preceded in death also by her grandmother, Sadie Barlow Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memories with her devoted husband of 32 years, Buxton Aurelius Fugar; sons, Edem Yao Fugar and Senyo Kofi Fugar of Brandon, Florida; granddaughter, Eli Leilani Fugar of Brandon, Florida; brother, Wayne Mahoney Johnson of Kissimmee, Florida; sister, Sandra Paulette David (Reynold), aunt, Hestina Reaves, Hopewell, VA; uncles, James Fugah of New York, Titrim Attipoe, Ghana, West Africa, David Johnson and Richard L. Johnson, both of Petersburg, VA; niece, Isha David of Kissimmee, Florida; nephew, Reynold Francis David (Dawn) of Kissimmee, Florida; cousins, Francis Kumahia and Patience Fiattor both of Boston, Massachusetts, Michael Morgan of Kissimmee, Florida and Phanuel Gbewonyo of California; sister-in-law, Patience Fugar of Ghana, West Africa; and a host of other relatives, numerous friends, church family and co-workers of Robles Elementary School. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
