Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Molton Smith went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 11:53 AM.  She was surrounded with love and peace. A cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Mary lived a life full of joy, faith, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Born on September 29, 1947, in Tampa, Florida, to Mary Benjamin and Lee Roy Molton, Mary was raised in a home that nurtured her compassion, creativity, and her strong spirit.

She was a proud graduate of Blake High School, Class of 1965. There, she was an active band member with talent and poise on the clarinet! Mary's vibrant personality touched everyone she met. Known for her infectious humor, generous heart, and stylish flair, she took pride in being a "true diva." She was an exceptional cook and baker; often bringing her family together with delicious meals, sweet treats, and laughter from her kitchen. Mary found peace and joy among her plants with her gifted green thumbs. Baptized at an early age in Tampa, Mary's faith remained a guiding light throughout her life. As a devoted member of Mt. Tabor M. B. Church, she found fulfillment in serving God by uplifting others. Whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or a warm embrace, Mary "lived her ministry of love in action." She was a woman of wisdom and strength, always willing to support and guide those in need. Her legacy of faith, kindness, and resilience will live on through her family. Many were blessed to have known her.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Mary Frances Benjamin and Lee Roy Molton; son, Warren Smith III (Bam); aunt, Willie Mae Cross; and cousins, Albert Young and Lee Davis. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughters: Charlotte Molton and Vondalyn Allen; seven grandchildren: David (Jennifer), Javaris (Tiara), Sharda' (Bobby), Domonique (Kevaughn), Kareema, Johnathan (Shani), and Alexis; seven great-grandchildren: Chase, Milan, Egypt, Jah'Mora, Jah'Syria, Kelsnic, and Zion; two loving sisters: Joyce Carroll and Saundra Settles; beloved aunt, Isabelle Morsley;  a host of nieces and nephews, including Monique Murray, Tonya Molton, Chauncey Molton, Darrell Andrews, Dwayne Andrews, and Sabrina Molton.

Her legacy also extends to her grand-nieces and nephews: David Burgess III, Eric Young II, Brittnee Chatnam, R.J. Murray, Malik Murray, Nichalas Andrews, Mason Andrews, and Savannah Andrews. Additionally, she leaves behind cousins: Arnetta Collins, Dave W. Cross Jr. (Constance), James Cross (Jacqueline), Karen Peoples, Betty Lou O'Neal, Sheryl Fe O'Neal , Al O'Neal, Wanda Williams, Aaron, Candace, Kevin White (Jenny), Dave III, William, Jasmine, LeShondra, LaQuandra, and Craig; as well as a host of dear friends who will deeply miss her, and forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Mary Elizabeth Molton Smith's life was a beautiful testimony of grace, laughter, and unwavering love. Though she will be deeply missed, by all who loved her, we rejoice in knowing that she now rests in the arms of her Savior.
