Church, 1225 N. Nebraska Ave, with Bishop Preston D.H. Leonard, Presiding and Bishop Adrian M. Shaw, eulogist. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mary Jean Clinton Monroe was born to Gilbert and Daisy Clinton on October 25, 1948 in Tallahassee, Florida, where she was converted at an early age. She briefly attended some earlier years of schooling in Tallahassee, Florida and later moved to Tampa, Florida and completed her education in the Hillsborough High Schools. After growing up she met and married Braine Monroe, Sr. and later two sons were born. She and her husband moved around while he was in the military and she had the opportunity to travel overseas. After her husband got out of the military service, she and her family lived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, but later she and her children moved to Tampa, Florida. Mary joined the Greater Mount Moriah Primitive Baptist Church of Tampa, Florida, where she served until her unexpected death on September 30, 2012. Her father Gilbert Clinton of Tampa, Florida preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn; her mother: Daisy Clinton of Tampa, Florida; two sons: Braine A. Monroe, Jr. and Jabari B. Monroe; two sisters: Jacquelyn Jefferson (Alexander) of Tallahassee, Florida, Gloria Barker Johnson (Willie) of Tallahassee, Florida; a brother: Reginald Clinton of Charlotte, North Carolina; special cousin like-a-sister Diane Ross (Hubert) of Phoenix, Arizona ; her adopted sister Wilsonia Hall (Jimmy); aunts: Annie Bell Nelson of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Ida Mae McNeil of Phoenix, Arizona; Dorothy Gooden of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Mamie Jenkins of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Margaurie Jenkins of Delray Beach, Florida; Vanna Smith (Thomas ) of Tallahassee, Florida; Algertha Clinton of Tampa, Florida; Queenester Pride (Henry ) of Monticello, Florida; uncles: Moses Jenkins of Phoenix, Arizona; Robert Jenkins (Flora) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Eddie D. Jenkins of Rivera Beach, Florida; Eddie B. Jenkins (Julia) of Tallahassee Florida; Hubert Clinton of Tampa, Florida; one grandchild, two nieces, two nephews and a host of cousins, other relatives, friends, her extended family at the Embassy Suites of Tampa, Florida and the Greater Mount Moriah Primitive Baptist Church Family of Tampa Florida. Mary had a quiet demeanor about her but was a very caring person. Mary never bothered anyone because she was a peaceful person. To know her was to love her. She loved her church and her job. She was very dedicated to whatever task she had to perform. As an employee you couldn't have asked for a better worker. She was one of those people that remembered to send her family and close friends all kinds of special occasion cards such as birthdays, Christmas and Easter and sometimes just because cards. She was so thoughtful in making sure you got the cards on time, she would send them anywhere from two weeks to a month early. She will be truly missed by her loved ones. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, October 5th, from 5-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
