Mary Jean Smith was born on June 2, 1944, in Americus, Georgia. Mary Jean attended the University of Florida and went on to dedicate many years of service working at a Mental Health Center, where her compassion and caring spirit touched countless lives. She was known for her warm heart and gentle nature, always willing to help others in any way she could. Truly the glue that held her family together, Mary Jean embodied kindness, generosity, and unconditional love. She was the type of person who would give you the shirt off her back. In her leisure time, Mary Jean enjoyed playing golf and tennis, activities that reflected her energetic and vibrant personality. She enjoyed traveling, going on cruises and spending time with her family. She was also a devoted fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and loved cheering on her team.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Felicity Jean Smith; her parents, Gussie Mae Robinson and Fred Clark; her brothers, Johnny Nance and Donnie Clark; and her sisters, Constance Mendez and Bessie Mae Campbell.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving sons, Sammy Smith and Gregory Smith; her brothers, Jeremiah Robinson (Ft. Myers, FL), Fred Nance, Dennis Nance, and Jimmie Robinson; her sisters, Hattie Wilson, Johnnie Mae Nance, Eutha Clark, Estella Clark, Clara Norris, and Iola Addison; grandchildren, Angelita Smith, Timica Smith-Troutman, Nikita Smith, Elton Gaffney,Jr., Samantha Smith, Shantell Smith, Gregoria Smith, Janisha Smith, Demario Smith, and Samson and Legacy Smith; along with a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Mary Jean Smith's life was a beautiful reflection of love, resilience, and dedication to family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her. She peacefully transitioned, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.
