Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Spates of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, will be held on Wednesday, December 28th, 5:30 p.m. at the Palm River Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 4802 17th Avenue S., Bro. Keith Lee, officiating. Mary was born July 31, 1914 in Madison, Florida.Mary loved attending the Kingdom Hall and associating with all her friends there. Her congregation cherished her and showed her tremendous love. She delighted to share the good news of the Kingdom with friends and neighbors. Yes, her diligence continued even though she had physical limitations. Her contributioncan be likened to"the widow's mite" (Luke 21:2). Mary loved sewing in her earlier years, she made most of her clothing. The card game bid whist, she was an absolute ace. She was also the senior puzzler andjigsaw puzzles were her love, no matter what the size. Even though she was 102 years of age, she prided herself in caring for herself and household needs. Per her, remaining active was the key to her longevity. Mary was preceded in death by:her loyal husband, Marvin Vincent (MV) Spates; her son, M. C. (Mack) McCray; her granddaughter, Mary Ellen Cross; her dearparents, James Haynes and Sadie Simmons Haynes; brothers, Judge and James Haynes;and many dear cousins, aunts and uncles. Her survivors: son, Marvin Spates and wife, Kathy; granddaughter, Joetta Watson; grandson, Ivin Spates; devoted nieces and nephew, Betty Haynes, Mamie B. Haynes Kelley, Mary Gibson, Izolla Bolden and Richard Lee Richardson;and many cousins, Maggie Haynes, one ofthe closest; and a host of other relatives and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 27th from 5 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the Kingdom Hall on Wednesday for the memorial service.
