A Graveside service for Mr. Mathew Gilghrest, Jr. 'Mack Daddy' of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 will be held on Saturday, February 6th, at 11:00 a.m. at Orange Hill Cemetery, 4900 E. Chelsea St, Tampa, Florida, Min. Ruben Stokes, officiating. The interment will follow.

Mathew Gilghrest, Jr. was born on September 16, 1937 to the late Mathew Gilghrest, Sr. and Annie Mae Dyce in Metter, Georgia. He was of Baptist Christian faith. Mathew was a gentle, loving and giving father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He had a "BIG" heart and would help anyone in need. He loved to work and fish. He worked as a general contractor.He also loved visiting his favorite storedaily to have coffee and socialize with his friends. Although he will be missed, he will never be forgotten.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Hubert Gilghrest; sister, Annie Will Anderson; son, Darrell Gilghrest and daughter, Roneshia Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories with his children, Mathew Gilghrest III (Quinette), Ceretha Ann Leon, Maxine Booker (Vincent), Lisa Austin (Michael) and Ruben Stokes (Lashay); 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brother, Melvin Gilghrest (Emma); special niece, Cleo Thomas; special nephew, Ferman Thomas; special friend, Eddie Williams, and a host of other nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, February 5th, 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the graveside on Saturday for the service. We are following the CDC guidelines.
