A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Mattie Ethel Thornton Hankerson of Seffner, Florida who passed away on March 10, 2020, will be held on Saturday, March 21st, 2:00 p.m. at Loving Hill P.B. Church, 10040 Joe Ebert Rd., Elder Leland Johnson, pastor officiating. The interment will be in Mayberry Cemetery, Seffner, Florida. Mrs. Mattie Ethel Thornton Hankerson 'Monk' was born January 14, 1947 in Richmond, Georgia to the late Willie James Thornton, Sr. and Rosie Lee Harris Thornton. She enjoyed singing, fishing and decorating. She attended Loving Hill P. B. Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Lillie Effie Thornton; son, Jimmie Terry Thornton; sisters, Mary Alice Thornton and Mable Lee Barrett and brother, Willie James Thornton, Jr. She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her son, George Edward Claritt, Jr.; grandchildren, Shawntae Thornton, Staroctavia Thornton-Coolidge (Leonard), Serena Thornton, Sassy Thornton, Sasha Thornton and Shavita Clarritt; greatgrandchildren, Zyreia Larry, Zemetrick Larry, Janaye Thornton, Lentrevis Coolidge, Lillyonie Thornton, Aaliyah Partin, Anthony Partin, Jr., Samir Thornton, Watson Addison, Jr., Jockevion Newsome, Ny'Khy Thornton, Anistacio Claritt, Anastacia Claritt and Charlee'vicio Palmore; brothers, Eddie James Thornton (James) and Eric Thornton; sisters, Mary E. Thornton-Walton (Michael); Lillie May Thornton-Harris, Bernice Thornton, Yvette Thornton and Gail Beauford; aunts, Mary Harris, Sarah Harris, Bernice Brooks, Willie Lee Chester and Sadie Easterling; uncle, Abbie Harris; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss her.
