Homegoing celebration for Mr. Mederick Lynn Collins of Tampa who passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012, will be held Saturday, January 5th, 11:00 a.m., at New Salem MB Church, 405 N. Oregon Street, Rev. Henry Lyons, officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mederick was born on November 3, 1957 in Houston, Texas to the late Ernest Woods Collins and Wilma Murphy. Mederick enjoyed fishing, watching football and golf, clowning around, spending time with family and friends and visiting local community churches. He was preceded in death by, paternal grandmother, Mama Georgia; sisters, Georgia, Marilyn and Majorie; brother, Kenneth and lifelong partner, Rose. He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories with children, Lakeysha, Mederick Jr., and Marcus Collins and two daughters that he loved as his own, Racquel Hodges and Megan Jackson; grandchildren, Keyshawn and Keyonnie McCarter, Marliyah, Mariah, Marcus and Maurice Collins and Faven Salter; aunt, Frances Stewart of Baton Rouge, LA; uncles, Robert Murphy and wife Marion; nieces, Shannon Taylor (Effren) and Jyniel Brown; nephews, Raemon McClinton and Kenneth Griffin; great nieces, Tayla Edwards and LaNia McClinton; great-nephews, Jonathan Brown, Jeremy, Kameron and Logan Taylor; cousins, Robert Lee Allen; mother of his 3 children, Mary Ann Hodges; long time friend, Janice and a host of other relatives and friends. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home Friday, January 4th from 5 to 8 p.m. the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 pm. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
