A homegoing celebration for Ms. Melissa Elizabeth Davis of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019 will be held on Saturday, May 18th, 2:00 p.m. at Peace Progressive M.B. Church, 2607 N. 24th Avenue, Pastor Sylvester Robinson, officiating. The interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. Melissa was born on April 28, 1933 in Cuthbert, Georgia to the late Jesse Davis and Ophelia Lakes. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing board games and word search puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Ophelia Davis; 3 sisters, Rosa Mae Vickers, Ella Davis and Leatrice McClendon; 9 brothers, Jesse Davis, William Davis, James Davis, Earlie B. Davis, Jesse Davis, Robert Davis, Samuel Davis, Ray Davis and Celesterous Davis and 1 great-grandson, Tyjah Brown. She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories with her 9 children, James (Cheryl) Davis Sr., Debra Davis, Gloria Santiago, Calvin (Wanda) Lockhart, Herbert Davis, Olivette Davis, Cynthia Griffith, Linda Davis and Brenda (Kenneth) Scott; 16 grandchildren, Nikki (Marquaz) McGhee, Erika Davis, James (Janey) Davis Jr., Porsha (Ernest) Hammond, Cynthia Davis, Lauren Lockhart, Lindsey (Brian) Keogh, Calvin Lockhart II, Ania Kilkenny, Jacquai Kilkenny, Amahri Williams, Antione (Gabrielle) Davis, Alyssa Griffith, Eric Young Jr, Jasmine (Steven) Denson and Mikell Simmons; 14 great-grandchildren, Mya McGhee, Ava McGhee, Ian McGhee, Sierra Burrell, Desteni Scott, Andre Carter Jr., Mikayla Hammond, Myles Hammond, Malik Hammond, Mia Hammond, Kevianna Williams, Tariq Brown, Steven Denson Jr. and Skylar Denson; 1 great-great granddaughter, Jah'Nai Noles; 1 nephew, Clifford (Nannette) Davis, Sr.; 2 great nephews, Clifford Davis Jr, Jesse (Mati) Davis; 2 great nieces, Kellee Davis and Angela Davis. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home, on Friday, May 17th from 5 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
