Melven Edward Smith Jr. was born on September 29, 1949 in Fort Myers, Florida to the late Melven Smith Sr. and the late Frankie Mae Smith. He was employed at WEDU channel 3 for many years, and Miami Dade School Board. Melven enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him dearly.

He leaves to cherish his wife Mary E. Smith; daughter Delvetia Williams (Stanislaus); son Kelvin Harrison; grandchildren Ameisha , Stanislaus II, SaraJevo, Soviet; special cousin, Verna L. Goodman and extended family members and friends .
