Melvina, affectionately nicknamed "Taz" was born on March 10, 1969, in Hackensack, New Jersey to Melvin and Geneva Faison. Some of her favorite activities included bowling, shooting pool, fishing, traveling, adventuring, and trying new things. Throughout her life she was an advocate of and worked for both civil and union rights.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Geneva Faison; daughter, Cheri S. Ghant; and sisters, Linda Farrarh and Lola Monroe.

She leaves precious memories with children, Warren and Latoya Ghant; grandchildren, Malachi Collins, Elijah Ghant, and Nevaeh Ghant; brother, Bucky Taylor; sister, Bonnie Taylor; nephews, Syheem Farrarh, Evan Taylor, and Jason Taylor; nieces, Naimah Bogert, Kimetra Martin, and Syara Brown; great-aunt, Hattie Wilson; and a host of other loving relatives.
