Obituary

Homegoing service for Mr. Michael Leonard Morrell, Sr. "Mike" of Tampa who passed away, Tuesday, April 16, 2013, will be held Saturday, April 20th, 4:30 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Minister Dedric Scott, presiding with Elder Willie Davis, eulogist. Michael was loved by his family and friends and was the oldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andy (Rosa Lee) Morrell. When the Morrell's mother and father were called to be with the Lord, Michael embraced his role as the big brother to his younger brothers and sisters. Michael was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County, where he proudly graduated from Middleton Senior High School, class of 1968. After high school Michael worked for Hillsborough County for a number of years before he became self-employed as an all-around handyman. Michael was known to paint, was very well versed in auto mechanics, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, flooring, and all types of household repairs. Michael rarely met a stranger, his loving and kind spirit left a warm indelible impression on those whose path he crossed. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Rosa Lee Morrell grandparents, George and Lillie Richardson, uncle, Isaac Richardson and cousin, Pearl Drew. He leaves to mourn his passing his loving children, Michelle Katina Morrell and fiancAC., Eddie, Michael Morrell, Jr. and fiancAC.e, Toccara and Antoine Morrell; grandchildren, Raqui Morrell, Zy'Learya McCrone, Jordan Michael Morrell, Remi Bulmer, Drenz Thomas, and DeVontae Hall; great grandchildren, Legend and Lendrick Morrell; 4 brothers, Philip Morrell, Rymond Morrell (aka BaBa), Marvin Morrell (aka Pookey), Bruce Morrell and wife, Sonya of Fort Worth, TX; 7 sisters, Rosalyn Jackson and husband, Charlie, Arlene K. Tisdell and husband, Leroy, Nadia Tulloch, Cecilia Howard, Greenville, SC, Melva Brown, Norcross, GA, Norma Rosado, Duluth, GA., and Michelle L. Morrell, Kissimmee, FL; and a host of loving and sorrowing cousins, nephews, nieces, neighbors and friends too numerous to mention. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, April 19th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
