Obituary

Michael Allen, Sr., affectionately known as "Big AL," was born on December 28, 1953. A proud graduate of Miami Jackson Senior High School in Miami, Florida, Michael carried his love for his city and community throughout his life. Michael proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, dedicating years of honorable service before retiring. During his distinguished military career, he earned numerous commendations and awards, including: Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 5 devices, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 5 devices, National Defense Service Medal with 1 device, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 4 devices, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon. His commitment to excellence and service reflected his strong character, discipline, and dedication to both his country and those around him. Outside of his military career, Michael enjoyed being active in his community and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid sports fan who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite football team, the Miami Dolphins, and his favorite basketball team, the Miami Heat. Watching the games brought him great joy, especially when shared with loved ones.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Francis McKinnon; mother, Teretha J. Allen;  brother, Warren Allen.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Michael Joseph Allen Jr., Quinton Allen and Demertius Allen of New Castle, Delaware;  brother, Robert Allen of Memphis, Tennessee;  sister, Sharon Allen of Miramar, Florida. He also leaves behind special friends Betty Brown, Jacqueline Allen, and Betty Gail Davis, along with a host of beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. Michael "Big Al" Allen will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, love of family and unwavering pride in both his military service and his hometown teams. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the many lives he touched.
