Mildred was born on April 16, 1938 in Baxley, GA to parents Elijah McCoy and Zora Lee Floyd McCoy. She married Jasper Moreland and moved to Tampa, FL with her four children where she lived for 15 years. She relocated to Fort Myers, FL, where she lived for 40 years. Mildred loved to cook, read, and watch her afternoon soap operas ("the Young and the Restless" and "the Bold and the Beautiful" were among her favorites).

She loved her family; her grandchildren were her prized possession. Mildred worked in the healthcare field as a cook and a caregiver until her retirement. After retirement she relocated back to Tampa, FL, where she lived with her daughter and grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jasper Moreland; son, Nathan Moreland; sisters, Clara Williams and Mary Lucy McCoy-Tyler; brothers, Charles, Ira Sr., Johnny, James, Fentrice, Quitman, and Cleophus McCoy.

Mildred leaves to cherish precious memories with her daughters, Guinell Moreland of Tampa, FL and Iris Grier of Houston, TX; sons, Tommy Moreland (Loretta) of Tampa, FL, Larry Moreland (Anne) of Leigh High Acres, FL, James Anderson (Marcia) of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, James Daniels, Robert Porter, Gale Moreland, Vonseatta Cobb, Lyndie Avery, Tosha Moreland, Nathan Moreland, Jr., Eddie Williams III, DeVonte Williams, Darione McCarter, Paris, Jr., Parnell, Leasha, and Irianna Dabney; great-grandchildren, Javonte Daniels, Charlese Porter, MaNyah Williams, Vonecia Carswell, Briana Lewis, Jamal Goston, Statelyn Avery, Nigel Sampson, and Maat Lee; great-great grandson, Jaiden Daniels; three very close nieces, Alma Jean Jiles, Mildred Elaine Smith, and Mildred McCoy-Singh; and a host of great-grands, great-great grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
