Mildred
Stone
August 16, 1929 – December 23, 2025
Ms. Mildred W. Stone was born on August 16, 1929, in Savannah, Georgia, to the late Eliza Tindall Williams and Ed Williams. She was the second and youngest of their children. Mildred attended Middleton High School, graduating with the class of 1947. In 1946, Mildred was baptized into Christ at the 29th Street Church of Christ, where she remained a devoted and faithful member throughout her life. Ms. Mildred W. Stone attended Tampa Business College and devoted many years to being a loving stay-at-home wife and mother. She later began a long and dedicated career at WTVT, where she worked as a PBX operator and in the mailroom for more than 20 years. During her time there, she was recognized as Employee of the Month on several occasions and was featured twice in stories highlighted on What's Right with Tampa Bay. These honors reflected not only her strong work ethics, but also the values she lived by, her devotion to raising her children and her countless acts of kindness, charity, and service to others.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Eliza and Ed Williams; brother, Milton Williams; daughter, Jacquelyn Mildred Stone Cress; and aunt, Abie Lee Benbow Clark "Tee Tee".
She leaves to cherish her fond memories to her children, Carolyn Stone Holifield (Bishop), James Daes Stone, Melvin M. Stone (Pam), Michael B.
