Minnie T. Moore, affectionately known as "Barbara", was born December 2, 1946, in Tallahassee, Florida to the late Nathaniel "Nate" Floyd and Maxine Hill. Nathaniel was called home to be with the Lord when Minnie was just three years old. Mr. Frank Thomas graciously assumed the role of Minnies father. Minnie attended the public schools of Leon County and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965. She later received her bachelors degree in the field of Applied Professional Studies in 2004 and her masters degree in Early Childhood Education Grades K-3 in 2007, both from Nova Southeastern University. She was employed with the Hillsborough County School System for 33 years, where she educated many kids in the Early Childhood and Head Start Programs.
She owned and operated Lynettes Beauty Shoppe for over 40 years and worked for many years with the Department of Children and Families as a respite care worker. She loved her children and adored her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed doing hair, mentoring, laughing, and watching Family Feud. Minnie confessed Christ as her savior at an early age and after moving to Tampa, Florida in 1970, she joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She would later become a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Elder Eddie Newkirk. Her final church home would be First Baptist Church of College Hill under the leadership of Rev. Abe Brown and later Evan Burrows, where she served on the Womens Ministry.
She was preceded in death by: her father, Nathaniel Floyd; mother, Maxine Hill Thomas; father, Frank Thomas; great grandmother, Genie Hill; brothers, Eugene Frazier and Ronnie Thomas; sisters, Betty Payne and Leah Thomas; life partner, Willie Moore, Jr. She leaves to mourn her passing, sons, Christopher Welcome, Sr, Willie Moore III, Clint Moore and Tykese Moore; daughter, Pricetta Moore; stepdaughters, Lawanza Moore, Concetta Baxter, and Valerie Brown; grandchildren, Christopher Welcome, Jr., Neil Welcome, Jazmyne Moore, Tervarese Blackmon, Jr., Chase Moore, Journei Lindsey, Maliyah Moore, Ava Moore, Tyhiria Moore, Tykese Moore, Jr., TyKeee Moore, Emma Moore, Tyrese Moore, Egypt Moore, and Cynthia Levy (Arkeya) and Chanel Moore; great grandchildren, Chase Welcome and JaLeiah Lemus; brothers, Joe Nell Thomas (Malinda), Lester Thomas (Maria), and Frank Thomas (Anita); sisters, Inell Williams, Mary Wyche, Carolyn McCray (Freddie), and Belinda Floyd; aunt, Katie Murray; special nieces, Markitia Robinson and Zelena OBanner; cousins, Jennifer Harley and Barbara McGill; special nephew, Robert OBanner; godsons, Derrick Grady and Charles Langston; goddaughters, Mahogany Philmore, Ijeoma Muforo-Uman, Carla Holden, and LaMonica Butler; devoted friends, Ethel McGill, Yvonne Freeman, Tonita Williams, James and Joanna Tokley, Bennie and Dorothy Taylor, December Clarke, Willie May Mayes, and Kay Hollis; devoted family friends, the Taylor, Tokley, Johnson/Holden, Levy/Walker, Grady, Jackson and Mayes families. and a host of other caring relatives and friends.
