Mollie L.
Hicks
August 31, 1933 – October 4, 2025
On Saturday, October 4, 2025, Mollie Lue Hicks closed her eyes and departed this earthly life into an everlasting life. Mollie was born on August 31, 1933, in Eufaula, Alabama, to loving parents, Ray and Thelma Farrior. She graduated from Barber County High School in Eufaula, AL. Before commuting to Florida, Mollie met and courted Earl Hicks. Their love culminated in marriage, a union that exemplified devotion, friendship, and mutual respect.
Mollie was a beacon of love who beautifully impacted the hearts of many. A caring, devoted, and passionate mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend, neighbor, and counselor, and will be deeply missed. She was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement. Her laugh was addictive; her smile was attractive, and her memory will be cherished by all. Over 30 years, Mollie worked in customer service at Ideal Cleaners in Tampa, FL, driven by her passion, tireless work ethic, and 'special gift' of ironing and sewing clothes. In Mollie's leisure time, she found pleasure in fishing, sewing, ironing, playing cards, and dominoes. She also found happiness eating breakfast with family and caring for babies. Guided by faith and for over 50 years, she was a member of New Friendship M.B. Church, under the leadership of Rev. Hosea L. Daniels. Mollie served the Lord wholeheartedly, and her love knew no reservation; she selflessly poured herself out for others with the sacrificial love of Christ. Among those who held a special place in Mollie's heart was Oscar Scott. Later in life, she and Oscar were blessed again to reunite, which marked a beautiful love story. Their connection blossomed into a deep and enduring partnership.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Thelma Farrior; children, Louise, Eloise and Thomas Earl; husband, Earl Hicks; sisters, Willie Ray, Alice, Oease, Sara Patsy, and Cydean; grandson, Samuel 'India' Clarke; special friend, Oscar Scott; goddaughter, Valerie Johnson Thornton; and great-grandson, Gabriel 'Donk' Thompkins II.
Celebrating her life, legacy, and love are her children, Robert Hicks (Teresa) and Thelma Clarke (Samuel); grandchildren, Hollis (Brian), LaTasha, LaKischa (Jabari, Sr.), Jacquez (Tonia), Brittany, Whitney (Lonnie) and Joseph, Jr.; bonus grandson, Gabriel I (Tiffani); great-grandchildren, Shannon, Jr., Alexis (Sharif), Destiny, Ja'Niya, Ronde', Jabari, Jr., Tristen, Z'yana, Brennden, Cornelius III., Cayden, Brandon, Jr., Carmelo, Joseph III, Chaise, Dynasti, Amir and Amari; great-great grandchildren, Arraya, Gabriel III 'Nugget', Dion, Jr., Da'Seir and Da'Siah; sister, Christine; nieces, Elaine, Nedlee, Mary Kal, Mary Ann and Patricia; nephews, James, Ray Charles, Buck, Ralph, Johnnie C., Willie C., Kenneth and Edward; special neighbors: Peggy Berger and Grant Park 55th Street family; a host of relatives, neighbors and friends too numerous to name. It would cause enormous lament to Mollie's heart to miss naming anyone. Therefore, everyone who has alphabet letters from A to Z in their name is now acknowledged.
