A Homegoing Graveside Celebration for Mrs. Monique Montez Baity of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, will be held on Saturday, October 30th, 1:00 p.m., at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4217 E. Lake Ave., Rev. James L. Gallon, officiating. The interment will follow.

On March 1, 1972, Monique Montez Baity was born to the late Brenda Grant and Calvin Lewis, Sr. in Tampa, Florida. She joined the angels in heaven, surrounded by her loving family. Monique accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young child. She was a member of the H. B. Plant High School graduating, class of 1991. All who knew Monique, knew of her love of cooking, which became a passion she was able to pursue academically by earning a culinary arts degree in April 2021. Because of her nurturing spirit, Ms. Baity played an active role in assisting in the caretaking and child rearing of not only her siblings but also her nieces, nephews, and younger cousins. Monique also enjoyed writing poetry and belonged to an online poetry group. She was preceded in death by her mother, Brenda Grant; grandparents, Clarence Baity, Sr., and Mosley Clark; aunts, Ann Martin and Clarice Green, and uncle, Clarence Baity, Jr. She is survived by her brother, Rodrick Southers; sisters, April Green Damen (Torrey Damen, Sr.) and Kailaia Grant; nieces, Tylaia Damen and Aniya Campbell; nephews, Kamar Ashley, Torrick Damen and Torrence Damen; aunts, Janice Clark and Gailer Baity; godmother, Carolyn Hudgins; godbrother, John "Chip" Hudgins; close cousins, Tameka Monroe, Regina Green and Derrick Baity; and a host of loving family and friends.

The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, October 29th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet the graveside on Saturday for the service. We are following the CDC guidelines.
