A Homegoing Celebration for Mother Josephine Gould Sams of Tampa, Florida who entered into her heavenly home on Sunday, October 18, 2020 will be held Saturday, October 24th, 10:00 a.m. at Orange Hill Cemetery, 4900 E. Chelsea Street Tampa, Florida, 33610, Bishop Matthew Williams of Brown Memorial Church of God in Christ, officiating. The interment will follow. Josephine Gould Sams was born on May 8, 1929 in Oviedo, Florida to the late Andrew and Thelma Gould. Mother Sams enjoyed her church functions at Brown Memorial Church of God in Christ, cooking for holidays, raising roses in her rose garden, and loved baseball and football. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larger Sams; daughters, Brenda Bell Sams Williams and Gloria Mickens; son, Albert Lee Sams; sisters, Mable, Frances, and Martha; and grandson; James Lee Sams Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Larger Sams Jr. (Barbara), James Lee Sams (Michelle), JoAnn Sams, Aretha Sams, Alphonso Sams (Carol), Robert Sams (Joyce) and Lonnie Sams; grandchildren; Andreca (Kenneth), Regina (Andrew), Torry (Kesha), Tiffany, Nia, Kimberly, Alphonso Jr. , Latonya, Heavenly, Miracle, Whitney, Lonnie, Danyelle, Earlist Jr., Eldrick, Andrew, Dywone, Nathan, Daniel, and Krista; a host of great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; sisters, Doretha Pender, Nancy Gould, and Mary Berry; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and special friends, neighbors, Barbara Ball family and the Shack family, Ethel Myers Sams, Vernita Woods, Brown Memorial Church of God in Christ family, Diane, Chapman family, Queen Miller and family, Ms. White and family and Woodard family. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, October 23rd from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the graveside on Saturday for the service. We are following the CDC guidelines. The services will be live-streamed at www.aikensfuneralhome.com website.
