Mr. Billy L. Gant was born on June 3, 1936, in Walterboro, South Carolina, to the late William and Retha Gant. Billy received his early education in the schools of Walterboro, where he built the foundation of the hardworking and compassionate man he would become. He later dedicated more than 30 years of faithful service to P.C. Martinez, earning the respect and admiration of his coworkers through his strong work ethic, dependability, and quiet dedication. Outside of work, Billy was a devoted fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, faithfully cheering on his favorite team through every season. Those who knew Billy will remember him as a loving, kind, friendly, and wise man. He had a warm spirit that made others feel welcome, a gentle heart that was always willing to help, and a thoughtful nature that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His guidance, kindness, and unwavering love for those around him will be cherished forever.
He was preceded in death by his William and Retha Gant; brother, Isaac Gant; sister, Ruthie Mae Bouges, Pearlie Mae Sullivan, Janie Bell Danner and Hattie Mae Williams; and niece, Redell Brown.
He leaves cherished memories to his loving wife, Minnie Gant; son, Willie Gant; daughters, Carla Gant-Washington (Thomas) and Brenda Gant-Jones (Gerrard); grandchildren, Antonio Kendell, Thomas Washington III, Wille Gant III, Quinnton Ricks, Carlos Washington, Brittany Johnson, Kearra Gant, Whitley Gant, Beautyful Copeland and Zarria Washington; a host of great-grandchildren; brother, James L Gant; nieces, Jeanette Simmons (Edward), Brenda Gant (Robbie), Suzie Bouges, Georgie Cornelius (Cedrick) Mary Bouges, Tonya Gant-Johnson (Antonio), Reatha Walker (Robert), Lue Sennie Williams, Annette Walker Johnson, Gina Larry (Thomas) Debra Danner, Bridget Carter and Catris Green; nephews, Whiley Bouges, Bernard Harris, James Williams Jr. (Mary), Vernon Lee William Jerry Gant, Jimmy Wallace, Willie Sullivan, Adam Lee and a host of other nephews; and a host of cousins. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration for generations to come.
