Dimontario Hopps, Jr., affectionately known as "DJ" was born on May 20, 2011, in Tampa, Florida. A bright and courageous young man, he recently celebrated the completion of the 9th grade through the Hospital Homebound Education Program with the Hillsborough County School Board, demonstrating remarkable determination and resilience throughout his educational journey. He loved watching Cartoon Network, listening to hip-hop music and expressing his unique sense of style. His fashion sense became one of his signature traits, earning him the title of "Best Dressed" at school every year. Whether through his clothing or his warm smile, he always left a lasting impression on those around him. Above all else, Dimontario cherished the time he spent with his family. Their love and support were a constant source of strength, and the moments they shared together created memories that will be treasured forever. He was known for his loving heart, gentle spirit and extraordinary courage. Even in the face of life's challenges, he displayed a quiet strength that inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, courage and bright spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, classmates and all whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Willie Hopps, Sr.; paternal great-grandparents, Columbus and Rosie Lee; aunts, Kathryn Hopps, Rosa Cooper and Vicky Myrick; uncles, Horace Lee and Joseph Lee.
He leaves cherished memories to his loving grandmother and life-long caregiver, Victoria Hopps; life-long caregiver, uncle-daddy Willie V. Hopps, Jr.; father, Dimontario Hopps, Sr.; mother, Jameshia Parks; grandmother, Alyce Parks; brothers, Rashaud Parks and Amyr Parks; sisters, Heaven Hopps, Harmony McWhite, Lyntayvia Chambers, Da'Chari Broome and Jer'Mani Parks; aunts and life-long caregiver, Vinquandria Hopps "Pretty", Vintoria Hopps (Stormy), Shantae Hopps (Esperanza), Laila Hopps, Dominique Hopps, Ebony Hopps, Valencia Hopps, Mariah Henderson and Freda Floyd (CB), Derylene Roberts, Rene Brown and DeErica; uncles, Tremayne Hopps, Willie A. Hopps, Willie Hopps, Jr., Derrick Jr., Tony (Carol) and Tank (Belinda); along with a host of sorrowing cousins, family and friends, a team of nurses, teachers, and therapist.
