Pearson, Sr.

Richard Pearson, a devoted veteran, hardworking provider, and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of service, dedication, and strength. Richard was born on February 17, 1941, in Sparta, Georgia, to the late Levi Pearson and Augustine Pearson. At a young age, his family relocated to Lakeland, Florida, where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Rochelle High School with the Class of 1961 and went on to answer the call of duty by serving his country in the United States Army. Richard proudly served with the prestigious 101st Airborne Division and was deployed to Vietnam. During his military service, he completed rigorous paratrooper combat training and served as a Combat Signaler, demonstrating courage, discipline, and unwavering commitment to his fellow soldiers and nation. Following his honorable military service, Richard began a long career as a skilled welder with Westinghouse Electric, where he worked faithfully until the company's closure in 1981. He later continued his career as a supervisor with the Tampa Housing Authority, where he served diligently until his retirement. Richard was known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and dedication to both family and community. He touched the lives of many through his kindness, wisdom, and steadfast character.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Levi Pearson and Augustine Pearson; brothers, Carlton, Jim, Melvin Pearson and Leroy Simmons; sisters, Thelma, Jessie Mae Stephens; sons, Sebastian Brown, Michael Shaw, Kamau Clark. He leaves cherished memories to his loving wife, Ona Pearson; children, Richard Pearson, Jr., Kenvin Pearson, Eric Allen, Craig Allen, Angela Pearson, Antoinette Wilson and Leontye Williams; sisters, Shirley Gore, Jean Pearson and Jacqueline Gayle; along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Richard's life was a testament to perseverance, service, and integrity. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. "Well done, good and faithful servant." The family will forever cherish his memory and the lasting impact he made on all who were blessed to know him
