Mr. Wilford
Young
Mar 11, 1945 — Sep 9, 2026
Tampa
Mr. Wilford Young was born on March 11, 1945, in Quincy, Florida, to A. L. and Mary Bass Young. He graduated from Middleton Senior High School. Wilford proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Following his military service, he established a strong work ethic and dedicated many years to providing for his family. He was last employed with Logistec, where he worked as a shipping crane operator.
A man who enjoyed working with his hands, Wilford had a special gift for landscaping. He generously shared his talents with family members and throughout the community, taking pride in creating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces. When he was not working, he could often be found enjoying football, especially cheering on his beloved Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Above all, Wilford was a faithful servant of the Lord. He was a devoted member of Highland Missionary Baptist Church, and his faith remained an important foundation throughout his life. He encouraged those around him to trust God's timing and plan, often reminding family and friends, “God already got it worked out, we just got to get there.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, A. L. and Mary Bass Young; brothers, Gerald "GT" Young, Irvin Young and Johnny Young; and sisters, Ruby "Dale" Lawrence and Minnie Lee Gordon.
He leaves cherished memories to his son, Ahmad Young; daughters, Rhonda Michelle Freeman (Andrew) and Terah "Hunnie Bunnie" Young; grandchildren, Ashaun Young and C.J. Freeman; brothers, Albert Young (Mary); sisters, Earlene Young Hollis and Locester Young Presha; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; stepdaughter, Rekesia Williams (Hilton); and many loving friends.
