Obituary

Betty Jean Martin, affectionately known as "BJ and Betty Boop" was born on December 16, 1958, in Quincy, Florida, to the late Sam and Barbara Glover, and resided in Tampa, Florida since the age of 6. She received her education in the Hillsborough County School System at Howard W. Blake High School. Betty was employed at the Hilton Tampa Airport Westshore, where she worked faithfully for 29 years. A devoted woman of faith, Betty was a faithful member of New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and enjoyed spreading the gospel wherever she went. Betty was known for her loving spirit, warm heart and wonderful sense of humor. She brought joy to those around her and never missed an opportunity to encourage others. In her leisure time, Betty enjoyed classic TV shows, playing with her dog Kobe, cheering on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, visiting the Seminole Hard Rock, and spending precious time attending family gatherings. She cherished her family and friends deeply and always made everyone feel loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Barbara Glover; grandmother, Ozella Oliver; aunts, Aggie Mae Scott, Essie Mae Burr and Ruby Oliver; mother-in-law, Chattie Lee Martin; sister-in-law, Irma Jean Martin; brother-in-law, Willie Earl Martin; son-in-law, Chris D. Graves; and best friend, Mary Mann.

She leaves cherished memories to her husband, Anndra L. Martin; sons, Otha Gainey (Quarqusia), Antonio Martin (Brooke) and Antoine Martin (Kastevia); daughters, Mikisha Graves and Grenaisha Baker; grandchildren, Andre Bradley, Ka'Mari Martin, Ka'Mani Martin, Jaylen Martin, Quamae Gainey, Quah'Tez Gainey, Quazay Gainey, Antoine Martin, Jr., O'Laiya Gainey, Bronx Martin, Mina Hambrick, Harvellio Buie, Jr., Barry Liggens III, Lauryn Devine, Londyn Devine, De'Aira Johnson and Gregory Baker; great-grandchildren, Andre Bradley, Jr., London Bradley, Aston Bradley, Denym Bradley, Le'Yonnie Bradley, King Bradley and Amiri Bradley; brothers, Min. Sam Glover, Jr. (Pastor Nancy) and Charles Glover (Gloria); brothers-in-law, Floyd Martin, James Martin (Mattie), Charles Martin and Tyrone Burroughs; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Stevens (Robert), Ella Sallins (James), Aurietta Madison (Darryl) and Bella Burroughs; aunts, Gertrude Williams, Rosa Snell Brown, Debra Oliver and Delores Josiah; uncle, Will Oliver; niece, Anita Glover; nephew, Kelvin Glover; special family, Delma Roker, Helenor Baker, Price, Beveritt, Barton, Olds, Reynolds, Poole, McMillan, Jackson, Logan, Peterson, Parker, Warren and Washington; special friends, James Harrist, Janet Covington, Evon Henry, Georgia Streater, Brenda Young (Tampa Airport Hilton Family) and best friend, Carolyn Williams; along with a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins. Betty will be remembered as a faith-filled, loving, and funny woman whose kindness touched many lives. One of her favorite sayings, which will remain in the hearts of all who knew her, was: “God bless and much love.”
