Mrs. Brenda Clarke-Smith was born on November 26, 1956, in Meigs, Georgia, to the late Arthur Clarke Sr and Lillie Mae Clarke-Garvin. She departed this life on June 24, 2026, at the age of 69. She was a proud graduate of East Bay High School’s Class of 1973. Brenda dedicated many years of faithful service to Nutmeg, now Fanatics, before retiring in February 2026. Brenda’s greatest joy in life was her family. She deeply loved her children and grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. For 44 wonderful years, she shared a beautiful marriage with her beloved husband, “Theo.” Brenda was a devoted follower of Christ and faithful member of Thryve Church. She lived her faith through kindness, compassion, and unwavering service to others. She had an extraordinary gift for making people feel seen and cared for. Even as her health declined, she never allowed her own struggles to overshadow the needs of those around her. Instead of focusing on herself, she was always the first to ask others how they were doing, offering encouragement, comfort, and love with a genuinely selfless heart.

Brenda will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, quiet strength, unwavering faith, and the grace with which she faced life’s challenges. She was a true fighter who endured with courage, never complaining and always placing others before herself. Her legacy is one of unconditional love, steadfast faith, resilience, and service - a life that reminds us to love deeply, care generously, and persevere with hope.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theotis Smith; parents, Arthur Clarke, Sr. and Lillie Mae Clarke-Garvin; brothers, Jerome Clarke and Arthur Clarke, Jr.Brenda leaves to cherish precious memories: sons, Detrick Clarke, Sr. (Ashley) and Theotis Smith; daughters, Roneesha Covington (Mario) and Theolanda Haywood (Randolph); grandchildren, Shameka, Detrick, Jr., Deon, KayJay, Tyree, Kendrick, Damarien, Dallas, Mar’Kayla, Riley and Carter; great-grandchildren, Amariana, Amyla, Jakayla, Jakyla, Kenecia, Ke’lani and Jayda; brother, Tommie Clarke (Paula); sister, Ruthie Clarke; brother-in-law, Marty Steward; sister-in-law, Jackie Jones (Herbert); beloved nephew, Bernard Livingston (Mary); and other loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
