Obituary

A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Murray Young, Jr., of Tampa, FL, who passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 will be held on Saturday, July 22nd, at New Millennium Community Church, 6608 N Central Ave. Rev.. Michael Neely, officiating. The interment will be held in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Murray was born on July 23, 1945 in Byromville, Georgia to Murray Young, Sr. and Essie May Young. He graduated from Middleton High School, in Tampa, Florida, in 1963. He worked at Tampa General Hospital in the dietary department for 27 years as a cook until his health declined and he had to retire. In his free time he enjoyed witnessing about Gods goodness, spending time with his family, watching sports, and worshipping God. He has been a member of The Deliverance Church of the Body of Christ for over 20 years, where he provided love and support as a deacon. Although he was not a member of New Millennium Community Church he attended regularly, and his presence was a beacon of light.

He was preceded in death by: his devoted and loving wife, Lorena Young; parents, Murray Young, Sr. and Essie May Young; brothers, Willie Young, Joe Young, and Marvin Young; sister, Mary Young; and god-daughter, Tadiah Taylor. He leaves to cherish his memories: doting daughters, Teresa Young and Mechell Young-Williams (Christopher Williams); sisters, Corine Young, Louise Young and Clyde Grier; brother-in-law, Joseph Holloman; grandchildren, Dominique Malone, Kiarrah Best, Reginald Burney, ChiAnne Brackin, and Khaled Williams; god-children, Kristina Roman, Lisa Johnson, Trenika Stovall, Tachonta Ammah, Kavonnah Means, Lachandra Blue, Angela Allen, Tony Williams, Patricia Cromuel, and Martha and Emmanuel Benitez; a host of loving nieces and nephews, extended family and church family, which includes his god-sisters, Jackie Brown and Christine Harvis and his god-brother George Sheehy; and dear friends Mary and Theodore Taylor, Marcia Buckley, and Rosabella Clarke.

His life and passing are a testimony of Gods goodness, grace, mercy and favor. His Christian walk, love for others, and laughter affected everyone he encountered. Although he will be greatly missed, he is too well loved to ever be forgotten. He is at rest in the arms of Jesus and He has said "Well done my good and faithful servant". The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, July 21, 2023, where the family will receive loved ones and friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the Home Going Celebration.
