A homegoing celebration for Sis. Nellie Sheppard of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018 will be held Saturday, December 1st, 11:00 a.m. at The Word of Grace Truth Ministries, 3001 E. Hanna Ave., Pastor Thomas L. Dozier; Rev. Jerome Griffin, pastor of Evening Star Tabernacle officiating. The interment will be held in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Our beloved Nellie Sheppard was born January 23, 1942 in Byromville, Georgia. Nellie attended schools in Dooly County, Georgia and later came to the Tampa Bay area. She worked at Lawrence's Truck Stop, a family-ran business, as a waitress for many years. She was a faithful member of Evening Star Tabernacle M. B. Church, where she often led songs and enjoyed singing alongside her sisters. She loved singing for the Lord and was often called upon to do solos on program. She also sang in numerous groups around the Tampa Bay area including Eddie Mae Jackson & The Voices of Zion, Philippians Gospel Singers, and the Gospel Legends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Sheppard, Sr.; parents, Johnny Felton, Sr. and Emma Lester; brothers, Johnny Felton and Eddie Felton; sisters, Beulah Felton and Carolyn Amaker. She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her sons, Henry L. and Diana Neal, James R. Sheppard, Jr. (Connie), Equard Sheppard, Anthony Sheppard and friend Pam and Chris Sheppard and friend Daphne; brother, Henry Felton, Sr.; sisters, Willie Mae Jaudon, Marilyn Short, Johnnie Mae Collins, Iradene Burch and Lillie Brown; aunt, aunt Louise Prince; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, November 30th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
