Homegoing services for Mrs. Nettie "Jewel" Brackins, of 2805 North Highland Avenue, who passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2009, will be held on Saturday, March 7th, 11:00 a.m., at New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 3201 East Lake Avenue, with Dr. H. L. Daniels, pastor/officiating. Interment will be held in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Brackins was born March 15, 1936 in Clayton AL, where she attended the public school system. She worked as a Drug and Rehabilitation Counselor. She was a member of New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Brackins was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Gant and Annie (Howard) Gant; and her sister, Virginia Gant. She is survived by her husband, Henry Lee Brackins; son, Earl Clark (fiancAC.e, Tolondo Childs); grandchildren, Casina Clark and Earl JE Clark; great grandchildren, Taija, Taniah, Vassay, Jr., Javon and Amonee; brother, Jarrett Roy Gant; sisters, Wrinnie (Waymond) Johnson, Elizabeth "Liz" (Amos) Bouyer of Orlando, FL, Almisha (Leo) Upshaw of Eufaula, AL, Deresa (George) Glenn of Orlando, FL and Maude Lou (Jerome) Johnson of Eufaula, AL; in-laws, Elizabeth (Charles) King, Lucille (Willlie) Chrispen of Ashburn, VA and Virgil (Wilma) Brackins of VA; nieces, Tina (Reggie) Lofton and Angeletta Jeaniene (Brian) Thompson; great nieces, Dee, Shayla, Suzanne, Tracey and Star; nephews, Justine (Suzette) Gant, Clarence (Andrea) Guinyard and Greg (GiGi) Reynolds; great nephews, CeGi, Terrance and Jemal; cousins, Lula Mae Howard, Elthel Mae, Louise and Lucy; and a host of other family members and friends. The remains will repose at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday (today) from 5 - 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 - 6 p.m. The funeral cortege will arrange from 2805 North Highland Avenue. Friends are asked to assemble at the church approximately 10:45 a.m. Saturday for the service.
