Homegoing Services for Mr. Oliver James Chapman, affectionately called "Baby", of 1107 E. Okaloosa Avenue, who was called home by his heavenly father on Sunday, April 5, 2009, will be held Saturday, April 11th, 2:00 p.m., at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd., with Rev. Clarence Shephard, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Chapman was born on April 22, 1957 in Camilla, Georgia to the late Willie "Frank" Chapman, Sr. and Ella Rose Chapman. He moved to Tampa, Florida in 1960 and was educated in the Hillsborough County Schools graduating from Hillsborough High School in 1975. He lettered in wrestling and enjoyed all sports. He was preceded in death by his father; 2 brothers, Willie Frank Chapman, Jr. and Melvin Acree; and nephew, Adrian D. Chapman. Oliver leaves to cherish his fond memories to: a devoted and caring mother, Ella Rose Chapman; his special friend, Shirley Tucker; 2 sisters, Cassandra James (Larry) and Valerie Chapman; 8 brothers, Jackie (Elizabeth), Charles (Sandra), Bruce (Sandra), Benjamin (Lashawnda), Eric (Adrianne), Kevin Acree, Terry King and Frank Daniels; and a host of nieces, nephews and other sorrowing extended family and friends. The remains will repose at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, April 10th, from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The funeral cortege will arrange from 1107 E. Okaloosa Avenue. Friends are asked to assemble at the chapel approximately 1:45 p.m. Saturday for the service.
