Homegoing Services for Mrs. Olympia Malone, who passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2011, will be held Saturday, February 19th, 11:00 a.m., at Cathedral of Faith Church 6304 N. 30th Street, Bishop James Howell, pastor, officiating with Minister Christopher Thompson, eulogist. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Olympia Malone was the first daughter born to the late Mr. Eli Parson and the late Mrs. Inell Parson, in Tampa, Florida, on October 30, 1946. She lived in Tampa, Florida, and surroundings areas for most of her life. Olympia attended the public schools of Hillsborough County, and later went on to complete the nursing program of Hillsborough Community College. Upon finishing the nursing program, she began a career as a registered nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital were she served for many years. Olympia survived two husbands the late Henry Malone and the late Sykes "Tom" Thompson. She was widowed both times. These marriages produced eight living children. Her only sibling, Lutricia Ward, lives in the Tampa Bay area, and was never far from her sister's side. Olympia attended Cathedral of Faith Church and loved her church family dearly. She was an ambassador for Jesus Christ and the prayer warrior for her sister, children, family members, and many others. She fought a hard battle against a lengthy illness, and was called from her earthly home, Thursday, February 10, 2011. Olympia leaves a legacy of love and prayer to her beloved sister, Mrs. Lutricia Ward; aunt, Estella Henderson; 9 devoted children, Mrs. Vanessa Escobar (Maricio), Mr. Ralph Malone, Mrs. Iris McDonald, Mr. Sykes Thompson, Jr., Mr. Ivory Thompson (Cyndia), Mrs. Olympia Baylou (Baylou), Mr. Christopher Thompson (Malita), Mr. Raimon Malone, and Mr. Dwayne Malone, her sister's children, Mr. Eric Ward (Alberta), Mrs. Shawnette Dunning (Sebastian) and Mr. Howard Ward (Lynette), many grandchildren and great grandchildren; devoted friends, Mrs. Sharon Heyward, Mrs. Thelma Shuman, Cora Carswell, Ella Cusseaux, and a host of other family and friends. The viewing will be held at Cathedral of Faith Church on Friday, February 18th from 5-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the church at 10:45 a.m. for the Saturday service.
