Obituary

Ora LOVED her family. She took in ANY family member or friend needing a place to lay their head. She enjoyed all things concerning her church family. She was a Deaconess, enjoyed singing in the choir until she was no longer able to climb the stairs in the choir stand! Ora also loved being a Foster Grandparent for the Head Start Program where she enjoyed caring for the young children she met each day. She LOVED people and also loved baking and cooking for special occasions. Most importantly, she LOVED the LORD and it showed in her everyday life.

Pat, as lovingly called by all who knew her, was born, raised, and educated in Greenwood, FL. She later moved to Florida and slowly most of her siblings followed her to Florida. She took each one of them into her home until they were ready to spread their own wings. She was steadfast and unmovable as a relentless mother to provide for her children by working for over 60 years for many employers. God blessed her to finally retire from Gator of Florida and to begin to enjoy the fruits of her labor. She traveled, visited family, enjoyed sewing again; She made the most beautiful handkerchief and matching corsages, mostly to give away. Ora was an admirable woman.

She was preceded in death by parents, Mary and George Barnes; sisters, Mary Smith, Regainer Gibbons, Vera Lewis, Ella Williams and Pellie Brown; brother, George Barnes Jr.; son, Donnell Mitchell; grandson, Donnell Jamel Mitchell and a host of aunts and uncles.

She leaves to cherish her memory, children, Gloria Hall (Jimmy), Kathy Lewis (Frank-deceased), Shelley Mitchell (Tammy), Marilyn Elaine Marshall (Zachariah) and John Mitchell; grandchildren, Warren Devaile Mitchell (Kimberly), Tiffany Norwood (Antwan), Adrianne Wilson (Ovett), David Norwood (Brandon), Jimmy Hall II (Corina), Jimmy Norwood (Evett), Toquanna Mitchell, Bryan Hall, Jerrick Mitchell, Tituneshia Moore (Liderrius) and Marcus Mitchell; a host of great and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruthie Mae Barnes (Ehram), Texas; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Mr. Junior Chaney and Ms. Linda Washington.
