A Homegoing Celebration for Ms. Patricia Mathis of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020 will be held on Saturday, February 8th, 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke AME Church, 2709 N. 25th Street, Rev. Kirk Bogan, pastor; Prophet Fanorris Morgan, officiating. The interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. Patricia Carter Mathis was born on April 13, 1948 to the union of Nathaniel Carter and Margie Henderson in Tampa, Florida. She attended the public schools of Hillsborough County and was a graduate of Middleton High School. Patricia loved her family, friends and had a special bond with many people. She loved traveling, home improvement projects, listening to music, having parties, dancing, working in her yard and spending time with her family. She worked for Lily White Hospital, Tampa Cigar Factory and Hillsborough County Schools for 33 years. Patricia was preceded in death by both her parents. She leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories with her two daughters, Katina Mathis and Kolanda Mathis; one son, James Ford Jr.; granddaughters, Caitlyn Hughes and La'Mauri Howard; grandsons, LeVadre Thomas, Jeffery Laster, Jr., Jamar Laster, Jeremiah Morris II and Kenneth Bellamy III; one sister, Georgia Burney; four brothers, Felton Hayes and Rosharon, Alvin Pimento (Evora), Preston Hayes (Deanna) and Wendell Hayes; two nieces, Satonia Johnson and Clarissa Martin; cousins, Cassandra Hall and Victor, Ronnie Reynolds and Regina, Cedric Dunn, Jr. Moore, Jermarcus Moore and Patricia Jackson; and other relatives and special friends including, Wanda Wooden, Shirley Chatham, Glenda Masters, Hillsborough County Bus Drivers, The Gang at the Nest, Dorothy Hunter and Valretha Williams. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, February 7th from 5 to 7 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
