On Monday evening, March 10, 2025, Patricia Ann Solomon closed her eyes and departed this life into a life everlasting where there is no more sickness nor pain. "Penny" remained brave as she "fought the good fight," finished her race, and kept the faith, following a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Patricia, known as "Penny," was born August 6, 1952, in Tampa, Florida, to her loving parents, Ulysses and Ella Mae Solomon. She attended Hillsborough County Schools and was a class of 1970 graduate from Middleton High School. She attended Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education.
A member of First Baptist Church of Progress Village in Tampa, she faithfully served as a greeter, usher, hospitality ministry member, kitchen committee member, and coordinator of the church directory. Her passion for God's Word also led to her graduating from Faith Bible Institute. In an effort to lead people to Christ, she was committed to Evangelism Explosion.
Patricia dedicated 35 years to the Hillsborough County School system, driven by her passion for working with children. Following her retirement, she continued contributing by supporting the Upward Bound program at the University of South Florida in Tampa. As an active member of the Red Hat Society, Patricia valued sisterhood and cherished the friendships she formed.
Patricia was a beacon of love and an embodiment of resilience who beautifully impacted the hearts of so many. As a mom, she was generous, loving, and kind; always making sure that her daughter, Keelie, had everything. As a grandmother, she was "all about" her grandkids. Inseparable, she often referred to her grandson Joshua as her "buddy." Among those who held a special place in Patricia's heart were Emma Williams, whom she affectionately called "Mommy," and her dear friends Edith Leonard, Delores Sanders, Jackie Preston, and Delores Boone Smith.
Patricia is welcomed in heavenly glory by her parents, Ulysses and Ella Mae Solomon; sister, Mildred Robinson; brother, Ron Solomon; and niece, Diane Robinson.
Celebrating her love, life, and legacy are her daughter, Keelie Robinson Mills and husband Victor Mills; son, Malcolm Finkley; grandsons, Joshua Mills and Myles Finkley; brother, Richard Solomon; sister-in-law, Marilyn Solomon; and friend, John Robinson. She is also remembered by her nephews, Airrion Solomon, Richard Solomon II, Joseph Solomon, Darryl Robinson, Astley Willis, Jr., and Gregory Spears; nieces, Rhonda Solomon, Shawnta Davis, and Latrina Robinson; along with other loving family members and friends.
