Home-going Celebration for Mrs. Patricia Center Young of Tampa will be held Friday, December 18, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Chapel AME Church, 2616 E. Chipco, with Rev. James Cruz, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Patricia (Pat) Center Young was born December 24, 1951 in Tampa, Florida to the late Beulah Mae Padgett Center and the late Mr. William C. Center. She attended public schools in Hillsborough County, high school graduate of Mather School in Beaufort, S.C. and attended Bethune-Cookman College. She was previously employed by Padgett Nursing Home as an accounting payable/receivable specialist, owned by her late grandmother, Mrs. Susie Mae Padgett and operated by her uncle, Mr. Ruben E. Padgett. From a child, she was a member of Pleasant Chapel AME Church. She departed this Christian race on Friday, December 11, 2015. She was preceded in death by her son, Rev. Alton Center; sister, Mrs. Maureen Kay Lasing; mother, Mrs. Beulah Mae Padgett Center; father, William C. Center; grandmothers, Mrs. Susie Mae Padgett and Mrs. Mae Hoefoer Center; grandfathers, Mr. Otis Padgett, Sr. and Mr. Heyward H. Center; uncles, James Padgett, Odell Padgett, John Henry Padgett, Otis Padgett, David Center and Hardy Lee Center; and aunt, Thelma Center. Pat leaves to cherish fond memories: a devoted daughter, Ms. Katrina Melody Center; grandson, Isaiah Center; nephew, Mr. Kevin Center; brother in-law, Mr. Rodney Lasing; uncles, Mr. Ruben E. Padgett, former County Commissioner; Mr. Hayward Center (Julia) of Columbia, S.C.; a devoted aunt, Mrs. Mary Padgett, Mae Frances C. Blocker (Johnnie) of Columbia, S.C., Mary Louise Center Grant of Durham, N.C.; special friend, Mrs. Irene Johnson; and a host of sorrowing cousins, other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 17th at Aikens Funeral Home from 4-7 pm. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Friday for the service.
